Honorary Life Membership for Jenine Mackay
Jenine Mackay served on the Arts Access Australia (AAA) Board from 2008 to 2016. She was elected to the role of Deputy Chairperson in 2011, Secretary in 2012, served as the Chairperson from 2013 to 2015 and as immediate past Chair in 2016. Over this period Jenine made a significant contribution to AAA, demonstrating strong governance leadership, succession planning and implementation across the appointment of three CEO’s and three Chairpersons.
In 2012, Jenine went beyond the call of duty and travelled to India to represent AAA at the Sambhav Festival. ‘Sambhav’ is a Sanskrit word meaning “possible”, and Jenine gave a keynote presentation which featured Australian artists with disability making the impossible possible.
Jenine remains committed to AAA and is currently working in partnership with AAA to host Meeting Place 2018 in Alice Springs, for which she secured a $99,600 NT Government Strategic Arts grant to host the forum.
AAA CEO Meagan Shand said, “Jenine is a strong, talented and steadfast leader with extensive skills and experience in the performing arts and Community Arts and Cultural Development practice as an artist, artistic director and manager/producer.”
“We value Jenine’s contribution to arts and disability in Australia, and we acknowledge her passion and commitment to working with diverse communities in Western Australia and the Northern Territory.”
Jenine was awarded the Honorary Lifetime Membership at AAA’s Annual General Meeting, held on 18 May 2018 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, in Sydney.
