AAA announces new Board members
Arts Access Australia (AAA) is pleased to announce its new Board members, and also pay tribute to the hard work of outgoing members.
“New Board members are Peter Kearney, Guy Morgan, Christine Johnson and Leah Maund,” AAA CEO Meagan Shand said.
“But before we provide further details, we’d like to thank our outgoing Board members Jenine Mackay (CEO at Incite Arts NT) who was our immediate past chair, Frank Ashe our former Treasurer and Gaelle Mellis (Creative manager at Access2Arts).”
Details of new members are:
Peter Kearney – Treasurer, Business Consultant – Financial Force, NSW
Peter is a qualified Chartered Accountant with 30 plus years of business and finance excellence. He has previously held CEO roles in companies and private equity, and is currently a business consultant with Financial Force. Peter has been a Director of a number of private companies, and is a committee member on the Kurungai Youth Orchestra. Peter holds a Masters of Applied Finance.
Guy Morgan – Individual Member, Visual Artist, NSW
After 10 years of painting abstracts and landscapes, Guy embarked on portraiture in 2012 to investigate the effects of his permanently distorted vision after suffering an 80% retinal detachment from the macula in his left eye. Guy has won an number of notable awards for his work – including being selected for the Archibald Prize and travelling exhibition in 2013 and 2015, and the 2015 Doug Moran National Portrait Prize. Four other portraits were chosen for the Moran Prize semi- finals in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
Guy is an enthusiastic Board member who shares experience in Communications, Finance, Corporate Business, Philanthropy.
Christine Johnson – Individual Member, Writer & Arts Leadership, NSW
Christine is an emerging writer and has completed a manuscript of her first full-length novel. Her writing career follows 16 years as a professional theatre director, working in mainstream, community and young people’s theatre. Access to the arts has always been fundamental to Christine’s arts practice. Her key skills are leadership within a team context, creativity and optimism.
Christine aims to provide a positive and practical contribution in moving AAA and its aims and objectives forward.
Leah Maund – Individual Member, Sensorium Theatre, WA
Leah is an anthropologist and inclusive arts facilitator who has served in the disability field for more than 15 years and has experience working for a number of organisations both large and small, and in a variety of roles, including researcher, project coordinator, advisor and board member.
Leah is currently working as a Project Coordinator for Sensorium Theatre, an exciting young company who seek to reach young children with disability as an audience and tackles the issue of arts accessibility from the point of view of sparking imagination.
She is interested early intervention and seeing greater representation of small arts and disability organisations.
