A Message from the Board - Australia Council Funding
The Board of Arts Access Australia (AAA) confirms that we are one of 49 arts organisations who will no longer be receiving core funding from the Australia Council for the Arts to support its operations. This decision by the Australia Council for the Arts, after decades of support, is deeply disappointing.
Established in 1992, AAA is the national peak body for arts and disability. We are a disability-led company with a proud history of increasing national and international opportunities for artists with disability, advocating for real jobs and pay for our community, and ensuring access is a live conversation within the arts sector.
However, with the loss of Australia Council for the Arts’ ongoing financial support the organisation’s future direction is unclear.
The AAA Board is considering all options and opportunities to continue the work of AAA. An update will provided to members and the sector in due course.
In the meantime, we acknowledge and congratulate those organisations who were funded to continue their important work supporting artists with disability.
Our thoughts are with others who, like us, were not successful. To fellow companies receiving this blow, and to independent Australian artists with disability, who we know are struggling in these difficult times, we send our best wishes.
