Arts Access Australia announces new Chair
Theatre director, performer and arts leader Ms Belinda Locke has been elected to the position of Chair of Arts Access Australia.
Ms Locke is an accomplished performer and has worked as an artist on creative projects with Australian Theatre for Young People, Australian Theatre Company in Los Angeles, Sydney Theatre Company and numerous productions for major festivals such as the Adelaide Fringe Festival. In 2014 she was selected for the Australia Council for the Arts’ Sync Leadership Program, and in 2016, awarded the Rose Byrne Scholarship for Emerging Female Leader in the Arts.
Ms Locke was also a delegate and keynote speaker at AAA’s first international Meeting Place, held in Berlin last year. She is currently completing her Ph.D. at Queensland University of Technology and also serves as Chair of the Crack Theatre Festival, and previously served as Deputy Chair of Arts Access Australia.
Ms Locke was voted to the position at the latest AAA Board Meeting, held 1 June, and succeeds current Chair Ms Mallika Macleod, who has held the position since 2016.
The AAA Board would like to thank outgoing chairperson Ms Mallika Macleod for her contribution to AAA and six years’ service on the Board. Ms Macleod will remain on the Board in a non-voting position, for one more year to support the transition of the new Chair.
