Have your say in the future of our National Arts and Disability Strategy
In September, the government announced it will be renewing the National Arts and Disability Strategy (NADS) in 2019. But before they renew the NADS, they want to hear from artists, arts-workers, and art-lovers with disability; organisations; support-workers; and any other key stakeholders that the strategy affects.
In other words, they want to hear from YOU.
This is your chance to tell your story about your experiences of arts and disability in Australia, and the changes you would like to see in the future. In turn, the government will use your feedback to collect ideas to improve access to the arts, increase participation by people with disability and foster professional arts training and employment opportunities.
How can you tell your story?
- Complete a survey
- Make a submission
- Come along to a face-to-face consultation
Find out more about the NADS review.
Complete a survey
Through the survey you can share your story or experiences by answering as many questions as you like. The only mandatory question is your State and Postcode, you can skip any other questions you don’t want to answer.
There are three surveys for different groups of people. You can answer more than one survey if it is relevant to you.
The three surveys are for:
- people with disability including a mental health condition
- organisations
- carers of people with disability
If you want to read the survey questions before doing the survey, you can read them in this PDF of survey questions.
Make a submission
You can write your stories and ideas and upload it via the Department of Communications and the Arts’ NADS Review webpage. You can make a video or audio recording and send it to us, or call us to tell your stories and ideas over the phone.
On the webpage, scroll down to Formal Submissions find out how to make a written, video, audio or phone submission.
Come to a face-to-face consultation

Still to go:
- NSW (Surrey Hills, Campbelltown, Parramatta, Lismore), 5-8 November
- Queensland (Brisbane, Gold Coast, Cairns), 13-15 November
- WA (Perth, Geraldton), 20-21 November
- Tasmania (Hobart, Launceston), 28-29 November
View the full list of consultation dates, times and locations.
If you would like to come along to one of the upcoming sessions, please RSVP to Rea Singh, rea@diversewerks.com.au or 1800 555 029. You can let Rea know about any access requirements, including if you require an interpreter.
