Public Consultation: Australian Code of Conduct for Access in the Arts
The ACCAA will provide a set of national community standards of access in the arts to increase agency of Deaf, Disabled and Neurodivergent people and to tackle abelism in the sector. The ACCAA will include a compliance mechanism to uphold these standards. It will be voluntary for arts organisations and arts projects, but will be strongly encouraged within the sector.
Our aim is to co-design the ACCAA through the support of the arts community, the Deaf and Disabled communities, and the wider public. We are launching a series of public consultations to be held over the coming months. The first of these consultations will be held online on 16 September as part of the Meeting Place 2021 program.
The creation of a national code of conduct on access and inclusion for the arts is very important. We want to hear from anyone and everyone who participates in the arts.
Arts Access Australia has been funded by Australia Council for the Arts sector recovery industry initiative funding to undertake this activity.
