Berlin Arts Exchange 2017 - Seeking Partnerships

The Berlin exchange project sets the stage to showcase Australian artists with disability and innovative learning opportunities between Australia and Germany. Working with our partners in Berlin, Arts Access Australia (AAA) is planning a “Festival of Arts and Disability’ in October this year.
The festival will centre around a Meeting Place event in Berlin with a number of satellite workshops and performances led by a delegate of Australian artists and leaders with a disability. Meeting Place is AAA’s signature event, it creates an inclusive learning space and critical platform to discuss and debate the latest in arts and disability. This will be the first event of its kind in Berlin.
The Berlin Festival of Arts and Disability will run from October 9-20, and is supported by the Australian Government through the Department of Communication and the Arts’ Catalyst—Australian Arts and Culture Fund and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australia now Germany 2017 program.
Who will benefit?
This project addresses some key priorities for people with disability in the Australian arts and cultural sector, such as providing a supported platform to present their work internationally and commencing discussions around opportunities for ongoing engagement with a vibrant, comprehensive and diverse sector.
This project is unique in its aims to incorporate mutual learning between Australia and Germany in terms of arts and disability practices as well as profiling our leading artists and performers. The exchange will culminate with a showing to demonstrate not only the breadth of talent Australian artists with disability offer, but also illuminate the importance of programming works that allow access for all audiences.
Our strategy is to build sustainable long-term partnerships with our stakeholders in both countries; governments, businesses, NGOs, media, artistic partners and cultural organisations. We will do this through providing a platform for conversation about the opportunities for people with disability to participate and engage with artistic and cultural organisations as artists and audiences.
Partners will be profiled within the Australia now program through branding recognition on marketing collateral and digital marketing. Australia now is a celebration of Australian culture in Germany from February – November 2017.
This will be done through our regular e- newsletters (which are provided in accessible formats), social media posts and via our national conference platform which is available through live streaming also.
